Trauma Support for Adults & Adolescents
I am especially passionate about supporting clients who are navigating the impacts of trauma. Trauma can take many forms, including relational trauma — such as emotional invalidation, growing up with a parent who struggled with their mental health, or experiences of emotional or physical abuse. I also work with other forms of trauma, including single-incident trauma (PTSD) and vicarious trauma.
Trauma can often show up as feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected — from yourself or from the world around you. It can make day-to-day life feel harder, and shape the way you experience the world, leading to beliefs that it is unsafe, that people are untrustworthy, or that you are unworthy. In therapy, we can work together to shift this blueprint, helping you see the world — and yourself — in a more balanced and compassionate way.
I bring a broad range of experience to my work, including previous roles in youth work and child protection. I have been practicing as a therapist for around five years, supporting a diverse range of clients along the way.
Evidence-Based Therapy.
Comprehensive Third-Party Insurance
If you’ve been involved in a motor vehicle accident, you may be eligible to access psychological support through your CTP insurance.
Therapy can help with difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, trauma symptoms, adjustment to injury, and navigating changes in daily life after an accident.
We work with your insurer to provide evidence-based therapy and progress reports as required, so you can focus on your recovery.
The therapeutic relationship is a healing vessel where these patterns start to gently surface, be understood with compassion, and slowly begin to shift.
Therapies Offered
At Caitlin Wright Psychology, we individually tailor your treatment plan to your goals and mental health needs, using gold-standard, evidence-based therapies. We may use the following approaches to support you:
-

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
CBT is an evidence-based therapy that helps people identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, which in turn, changes the way that we feel. It is the gold-standard for the treatment of anxiety (social anxiety, phobias, generalised anxiety) and depression.
-

Polyvagal Informed Somatic Therapy
Polyvagal therapy helps you understand how your nervous system responds to different situations—such as through fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. By learning to notice and gently shift these responses, you can begin to regulate your emotions more effectively and feel more settled in your body.
-

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
DBT is a skills-based therapy that helps people manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and build a more balanced life. It teaches practical tools like mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication. DBT is especially helpful for people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or who struggle with patterns of impulsive or self-destructive behaviour. It is also effective for self-harm behaviours.
-

Tri-phased Approach for Complex-Trauma
The tri-phased approach is a structured way of working with complex trauma that helps people feel safe, process what’s happened, and move forward in their lives. It usually begins with learning tools to manage emotions and feel more stable, then gently explores and processes traumatic memories, and finally supports reconnecting with everyday life, relationships, and a sense of identity. This paced approach ensures that trauma is not just talked about, but healed in a way that feels safe and empowering.
-

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a structured therapy that helps reduce the distress linked to difficult or traumatic memories. It gently uses bilateral stimulation — such as eye movements, sounds, or tapping — to support the brain’s natural healing process.
You’ll be invited to share what feels important right now, ask any questions you might have, and explore whether starting therapy feels like the right next step for you.
If you're ready, we can book your first session during the call. If not, that’s okay too.
